To Fix My Computer I Went Online

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

One day while I was at home working on a report for work, my computer just shut down. I had no idea what to do, and I had no idea how to fix my computer. My first thought was to go to my local computer repair shop, but I knew they would charge me high fees, and charge me for more than just the problem. Instead, I went online and found another solution. I went to a website that was able to remotely connect to my computer, and figure out my problems. All I had to do was pay a small fee, and they did all the work. I was able to see my computer getting fixed live, right in from of my very own eyes. I know that my local computer repair company would never be able to do that. Now my computer is working, and I am back to working online.

Things like Wi-Fi and internet dongles are dangerous to use at times because they might not offer a secure network and if there is in fact no secure network connection then it is going to mean that many are left unsafe when they connect to the web.

That is going to mean the amount of security threats they are potentially left facing is enormous and they probably will not go away any time soon either; for that reason, the need for something that is going to keep you protected and safe online will always be needed. That tool has to be VPN; this is going to be a tool that anyone can use today that is going to keep them safe and protected on the web, but there are so many different types of VPN that can be chosen.

There is Android VPN which does seem to be one of the most popular choices today; this is going to be best for all Android devices of course but Android VPN has provided everyone with a great service. There are just so many people today that are left unsafe on the internet and there are very few ways to get safety today unless they use something like VPN; it is going to be so important to make sure that everyone uses VPN today no matter what device they are using to connect to the web. It is going to make sure everyone can use the internet with a safe connection no matter what happens.

Best Hard Dive to Use with a Mac

Monday, December 26th, 2011

The best hard drive to use with a Mac is a little different from person to person. For me I want something durable enough so I can use it for backing up my work files and I tend to drop things so drop protection would be good. Other people might want something a little smaller and easier to carry or something which can be powered by their laptop while on the move without the need for a plug.

Some people might want a 3TB external hard drive while a 500 gb might do others. I don’t really think you get smaller than 500GB these days but you see my point.

There’s a lot of factors involved – before even considering price point. So it really comes down to what you want from your extenal hard drive at the end of the day and the best hard drive for use with Mac is whatever meets your needs for the lowest price.

Is the IPod 4G Really Worth the Hype?

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

If you’re a technology freak, you probably know that there’s a new iPod touch 4G from Apple in town: the 4G version which, even if not spectacular, still brings some improved applications and more reliability than the older versions. Actually, it’s nothing more than a copy of the iPhone 4, but without the GMS/ 3 G support, being launched on the 1st of September 2010. Of course, most of the people that surf a the web a lot found out many details on this new iPod, but let’s make a rundown of its most important specs here.

iPod Touch 4G has two cameras – one on the back side and the other on the front and incorporates a “retina display” functionality, not to mention the “face time” facility and the Game Center. Coming back to “face time”, let me explain what it means for the not-so-much Apple fans: what this basically consist of is a camera that films you while you are making a call to another user. It’s exactly like making a video call on Skype. And the best part is you can call more than one friend at a time, so you can make a conference.

There is a downside though, considering that the rear camera is has than 1 Mega Pixel (only 960 x 720). One interesting feature is that the iPod Touch 4G also havs a vibration alert – at least when you get a video call; but even so, tech freaks tend to be extremely enthusiastic about it.

You can have your iPod Touch 4G in 3 different memory versions: 8, 16 or 32 Gb. The screen is 3.5 inch wide (the same as iPhone) with a 960x 640 resolution. Also, the 4th generation iPod Touch comes with Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR and an 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi. Regarding the battery life, we’re talking about a rechargeable Lithium-Ion, which can last for up to 40 hours when running audio files, and only 7 hours for video files.

If you’re an Apple fanboy and you like to be fashionable when it comes to newest gadgets in town, iPod Touch 4G might be what you were looking for. It’s slimmer than the previous version, has lots of functionalities and of course, you can add tons of applications to it. If you want to be the coolest guy-girl around, this iPod is a must-have.

Interactive Whiteboard – a World of Uses

Monday, December 19th, 2011

If your child is lucky enough to have an interactive whiteboard in his or her classroom, congratulations are in order. Few technological advances are quite as impressive as these are, and there are an abundance of different uses for them. Basically, an interactive whiteboard is a projector based system that works through a computer. The computer desktop is sent to the board, where it can be interacted with through the use of a stylus. In a time when more and more schools are trying to focus on engaging, interactive learning, these devices have become one of the most beneficial tools a classroom can have.

Numerous programs are designed with an interactive whiteboard in mind, and students of all ages can benefit from them. Interactive learning programs like this function similarly to the chalkboards of old, but provide images, graphics, and animation to help. Students may be able to take turns working problems on the board, the teacher can actually demonstrate how to work through problems, and much more. From chalkboard like use to more interactive programs, the functions are almost endless and the interactive whiteboard is quickly revolutionizing the educational world. And teachers can use these boards for virtually every subject in the class.

For example, a map can be displayed on the interactive whiteboard to help explain geography, where simply clicking on a state could zoom in and show more information. Math problems can be better visualized when they’re shown on an interactive whiteboard, and even language arts lessons can be taught. Another neat feature on some systems is the ability to take class polls and then translate them into graphs or charts, a feature that provides a wide range of different education options. And since the mouse can actually be used to control the board much like a normal desktop, it’s easy to start using these great systems.

Estimates state that an interactive whiteboard will be in one out of every seven classrooms by the end of 2011. They’re popping up everywhere, and students are grasping their lessons more and becoming more excited to learn thanks to the level of interactivity provided by these boards. If you hear your child talking about them, be glad that your school has them installed. If not, consider trying to make a push to add an interactive whiteboard to some classes since they truly deliver one of the most profound learning experiences available today.

All you wanted is to have your computers organized in a proper and a scalable way. You have also wanted to have those computers within the busy network work as efficiently as it could be. You might not be familiar about the different computer network jargons, but you could be able to manage your network in your own way if you have that switch functioning within the network. This is to make sure that dissemination of data packets within your network are properly managed, translating into a much faster connection of every computer to the internet.

Software to Unblock Blocked Sites – Get an American IP Address

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

Unable to access your favorite social networking sites in school or at work because you haven’t got an American IP address on your phone or computer? Want to find out how to bypass these network restrictions? Gone are the days when employees and students were able to easily access social networking sites and spend hours chatting with friends from their school and work computers.

Over the past ten years, there has been a growing number of web filters and countries which block websites that are undesirable. For example, since students and employees spend a lot of time on social networking sites, administrators tend to make use of web filters to block these sites in order to increase productivity and reduce hours lost in doing tasks which are not related to school and work. If you are looking to unblock social networking sites in school or at work, consider making use of software to unblock blocked sites can get you an American IP address. One of the best ways to access blocked sites is using tunneling software. There are two categories in which tunneling software can be divided.

There are those ones which require installation and those which do not. One of the most popular software to unblock blocked sites that has been used over the years in a number of countries is the virtual private network or the VPN software. VPN is virtual connection that can be made from your computer to the destination site over the Internet. When using VPN software, you will be able to bypass any ISP restrictions and at the same time access blocked websites. You can also choose the country from which you will get an IP address. In many cases, and American IP is best because you can access the most sites.

Most VPN providers will allow you to get an American IP address or a UK IP address as their default package options. There are many different websites which can be unblocked using the VPN software. These include Facebook, twitter, Myspace, Bebo, YouTube and so on. Although VPN is a popular means of unblocking blocked websites, most of the VPN services are already blocked in countries like china.

Proxy software is also software to unblock blocked sites. Web based proxies are really beneficial and even better than using VPN connections in situations where you shouldn’t install stuff on the phone or computer you’re using. One of the major benefit is that no installation is required on the school or work computer. No installation means that the administrators will never be able to find out that you are making use of proxy software to unblock blocked sites. Other benefits include:

  • anonymous surfing
  • your privacy is protected
  • you get secure encrypted connection
  • you will be able to bypass any firewalls and Internet filters
  • you will get unrestricted access not only in school in work computers but also in countries where some of the major websites are blocked

Proxies may also give you an IP from The USA, but not all proxy services will allow you to choose the location of your IP address. For this, you have to you open proxies, which are free, but well known for spam.

Going from Ipod to PC

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

My new laptop is great, but it won’t let me go from Ipod to PC. I suppose the Ipod is really to blame for that problem! All of the advances in technology are great, but it is impossible to keep up with the newest of everything. I love my old Ipod and my new computer, and I had to figure out a way to get all of the music from my Ipod to my computer. When I tried to figure it out on my own, I just wound up getting really frustrated. I decided to do some research and see if someone else had figured it out. There are many people who have! There is actually software that does this. I got the software as soon as I discovered it. This enables me to have an awesome new laptop without worrying about losing all of the great songs that I have on my Ipod. I can still access them from my laptop, too.

Amazon Made a Declaration of Amazon Kindle Fire

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

The wraps are finally amazon kindle fire tablet. Its entry into the firestorm splashy tablet was hard to miss – Amazon made a declaration with its $ 199 price – and yet I’m disappointed. Although journalists are not allowed to touch the fire during demonstrations following Kindle Amazon New York launch event, I spent much time looking at the tablet in action, and roast Amazon executives on different characteristics. My gut reaction to what I saw today: This is not Amazon tablet we’ve all been looking for.

The rumor had been rife with talk of an Android tablet Amazon for months. And no wonder: Amazon is the only company that buys the services would create an integrated tablet experience that gives Apple a run for their money. What Amazon has announced the fire is less than a ready to use tablets and more than a white classmate of content from Amazon and cloud services?

How Video Surveillance Systems Work

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

Also known as Closed Circuit TV, or CCTV, video Surveillance systems are systems used to monitor various locations. Primarily used in retail outlets, video surveillance systems were first designed as a shoplifting deterrent and for cashier safety in the event of a robbery or other incident. They can also be applied in household situations to provide an extra sense of control and security in and around your home. The systems consist of a strategically placed camera, a monitor, and coaxial cables to connect the two. Placement of the camera is vital for your video surveillance system, since although some are able to move freely, they’re very pricey and the majority are stationary. The appropriate angle must be choosen to provide the best view possible of the area you want to monitor. The second, and arguably most important, part of the system is the monitor. Usually in black and white, it has a resolution on par with televisions, from 500 to 1000 lines.
